I wonder if larger fairs could buy their own coaster and have the ride provider operate it for them.

I was just thinking the same thing or contract with an operator to maintain a coaster or flume for them if the fair purchased one for their grounds. The only problem with our fair is they don`t care about what type of rides they have. They are more traditional agricultural / 4H folks. We used to have a giant slide on our grounds at one time.

don't some do that now, or used too? That fair in Atlanta that was in the Bandit movie, didn't they have their own wooden coaster for while?

Does the CNE still have those coasters up there?

Kansas, Iowa, and Minnesota all have Mill rides and slides both along with chair (ski) lifts on the grounds.

Correct, that's Steve Vandervorste's Wind Storm Coaster... I am not sure what the arrangement is, but he either sold it to the park or is leasing it for the season.

It typically plays Dallas and Houston but has also played Des Moines, Milwaukee, and St. Paul in the past.

More teen/adult rides are going in now and over the next couple of weeks. 6 total I read on their facebook page. Someone mentioned the wave swinger may have come from a California carnival company.
